We Flooded the Kitchen with Epoxy and the Result is Unreal

Why use boring wood or tile? You can make your floor into art. We did this in our latest build. We used the popular “river table” look. But we used it for a whole kitchen. The result is moody. It is also modern. It brings nature inside.

Below is the process step-by-step. See how we started with bare concrete. We turned it into a shiny masterpiece. We also included a bonus look. It is a totally different “ocean” style.

Step 1: The Plan

Every great build starts with a plan. We started with bare concrete. We did not mix resin yet. First, we used chalk. We drew “river” patterns on the floor. This step was vital. It helped us see the plan. We saw how the wood would fit the room. It ensured the flow worked well. It had to fit around the island and cabinets.

Step 2: The Dry Fit

Next, we fixed the layout. It was time for the wood. We picked huge slabs of live-edge timber. They had rich, dark grain. We fit them into our chalk lines like a puzzle. This “dry fit” stage was key. We could see the wood’s natural edges. We saw how they fit the empty space. That space is for the epoxy later.

Step 3: The Big Pour

This is the big moment. We sealed the wood planks down. Then we started the pour. We chose a deep black epoxy for this kitchen. It creates a bold contrast with the warm wood. Look at the photos here. The mixing buckets are ready. The black resin fills the “rivers.” It goes between the wood planks. This creates a solid bond.

Step 4: The Finish

Finally, the epoxy dried hard. We sanded it smooth. Then we added a top coat. The result is shiny like a mirror. It reflects the light well. It adds great depth to the room. The floor looks like dark water in a forest. We also added a big island top. It is also live-edge wood. It matches the floor perfectly.

Conclusion

Do you want a dark forest river? Or do you want a bright beach? Epoxy lets you customize your space easily. It is unlike any other material. Watch the video below. See the satisfying time-lapse of the pour!
