A Floor Made of Epoxy Fire and Forest

A Floor Made of Epoxy Fire and Forest

Naturally, this room feels grounded—stone walls, timber beams, wide windows pulling the mountains straight into the space. But the floor is where the idea completely shifts.

The design starts with a solid concrete base, polished smooth and leveled like any modern foundation. Before anything decorative happens, circular cutouts are carefully mapped and recessed into the slab. These become the anchors for each wood slice, ensuring they sit perfectly flush once installed.

Each round is cut from real hardwood, kiln-dried and sealed to prevent movement over time. They’re placed intentionally, spaced just enough to feel organic rather than patterned. Around them, smooth river stones are set by hand, filling the gaps and creating a natural transition between wood and floor.

Once everything is locked in place, the molten-looking channels are poured. This layer is built slowly in stages, allowing the material to flow naturally around the wood and stone without trapping air or distorting the edges. Subtle color gradients are blended during the pour to create depth—darker at the center, lighter toward the edges—giving the impression of heat and motion beneath the surface.

After curing, the entire floor is sealed under a crystal-clear finish. The surface is sanded and polished until it’s perfectly smooth, cool to the touch, and strong enough for daily use. What looks like flowing fire is completely solid—no heat, no movement—just depth, reflection, and light.

The final result feels alive without being overwhelming. From across the room, it reads as art. Standing on it, it feels solid and calm. A balance between something ancient and something entirely new—fire captured, forest preserved, and a room transformed from the ground up.

This lava style epoxy flooring idea goes crazy 🤯 #interiordesign #homedesign
